Dr. Rebecca M. Reck is Associate Professor of Bioengineering and Associate Head of Undergraduate Bioengineering Programs at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. A flautist and vocalist, she is also experienced with handbell music. Dr. Reck has performed with ensembles in Michigan and Indiana.
She was previously a senior systems engineer at the international aerospace firm Rockwell Collins, where she designed aircraft control systems including autoland and autothottles for commercial regional jets. Dr. Reck has continued her active roles at the national, regional, and local levels in the Society of Women Engineers, including advising the SWE chapter at the University of Illinois.
Prior to earning her Ph.D. in systems and entrepreneural engineering at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, she earned a master of science in electrical engineering at Iowa State University. Before that, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Indiana, where her leadership in the Rose Pep Band led to the ensemble's recognitino as the number one band in Division III athletics according to NCAA officials.
Dr. Reck is particularly interested in understanding and supporting the growth of young engineers and her primary research examines engineering education and its continual improvement. She has also researched electrical control systems and signal processing.
